Depending on a person’s needs, and their finances. some clients have a few sessions and feel the change is enough; for others, longer-term work might feel in order. We will discuss your individual plan during our initial free consultation session and we will review every 6 weeks or so.
This is preferred because if you leave it any longer then the therapeutic work is lost and we have to spend a lot of the next session catching up and going over things it wastes so much time and really slows the process. And We find that this continuity really helps the therapeutic relationship and helps to encourage and support client autonomy.
Sessions are paid for before the session starts. we do ask for 48 hours’ notice if appointments need to be cancelled or re-scheduled. It is policy to charge for late cancellations and non-attendance. If late cancellations or non-attendance happens often then we will consider removing the service from the client as this is not productive for them and it is unfair on the other clients waiting for appointments.
We are both trained and qualified members of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), has an enhanced DBS and are fully insured. Austin Is currently training in psychotherapy at post graduate level.
As we start the therapeutic work Clients see things like “I've never thought of it like that” and are intrigued, If we start to get into deep work then clients often say that they feel “worn out and tired”, after we have processed the session they feel heard and understood. Toward the end client say they feel much lighter, more positive and focused.
We hold all confidential client information in accordance with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and information will remain confidential. In extreme circumstances we might be obliged by law to break confidentiality - only when the client or other people are in immediate danger of death or serious harm or persons are currently involved in criminal activity (money laundering, terrorism, drug/people trafficking) or if we are compelled by a court of law. It’s our policy to always try to work with a client before confidentiality is broken.

All of the ways in which we come together has been proven to provide an effective, safe way to work therapeutically. No matter how we get together, we require the same Level of commitment. If the session is remote then we ask that you find a quiet place where you can speak freely without fear of being Overheard or interrupted, and that you leave some time after the session to process what has happened during the session.
We offer a free 30-minute phone consultation to help clients decide if they feel comfortable working with their counsellor. If you feel they don't understand you, you can ask to be seen by someone else. You have to be comfortable with the counsellor.
The Client-Counsellor relationship Is very important, We will keep clients informed of any change to sessions. Clients will Obviously not be charged, and if necessary they will receive a full refund of any sessions that cannot go ahead because of counsellor absence.
Just prepare yourself! You shouldn’t have to do much technically just turn up and push the link and say hello… A lot of clients just use their mobile phones tablets and laptops computers etc as long as you feel safe enough to share personal and private information , and your somewhere where you won’t be interrupted or disturbed. Some clients go and sit in the car for privacy whilst on line when they cant be sure of privacy.
We will send a link for the Zoom meeting up to 24 hours before the session via email WhatsApp or messages depending on what’s agreed. You’ll touch or click the link you’ve been sent and you’ll be taken to a “Learn 2BU” virtual waiting room When it is time for the session to start, the counsellor will ‘admit’ you into the counselling session. At the end of the session, the counsellor will ‘end the meeting’ for you both.
If something were to go wrong then end the session and push or click the link again and re-join the session. If the problem persists then the counsellor will phone, text or email you to give you instruction as to what to do, but try not to worry this never happens.
